iPad Settings and Issues Troubleshooting

March 8, 2023 by Geoffrey Nixon

Fast ForWord works on an iPad, but you must use the Safari browser.

iPad Settings

Alert! This setting change is required for most iPads
If you have updated your Apple iPad iOS to 13.1 or higher, before logging in, please follow the below steps to allow program accessibility:

Go into settings –> Safari –> Request Desktop Website –> All Websites –> turn it off –> exit out and launch a fresh new web page.

Issues – iPad Troubleshooting

Quick steps to fix most errors

If a student runs into problems on iPad – for instance, a program stops responding or does not work properly—try these tips, in this order. Close any programs you are using first.

  • Check the Internet connection on the student’s iPad. If the connection is lost, restore it. See connection errors here.  Then exit the program, if possible, then open it again.  If you can’t manually exit the component, press the Home button on iPad, then open the component again.  Close the component from the Multitasking screen, then open it again. See Close apps using iPad Multitasking. Then restart iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on iPad until the red slider appears, drag the slider to turn iPad completely off, then turn iPad on again).
  • Clear your browser history – info for all browsers here
  • Check that you have the latest update for iPad – more on manual and automatic updates here.  Then shutdown your iPad and restart.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, review the rest of the information in this topic. You can also visit Apple Support for more tips.

Tips – using Fast ForWord on iPads:

Deactivate “Push Notifications” as these will interrupt your student’s exercise and can kick them out of the exercises.

Please make sure your Apple iPad has at least 50% battery to avoid disruptions.

Be sure to have a strong internet connection to avoid disruptions.

Changing Screen Sensitivity – Speeding Up or Slowing

Here are the steps to checking the settings for screen sensitivity on the iPad:

> Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Haptic Touch. Choose the touch duration-Fast or Slow. Test your new settings on the image at the bottom of the screen.
