These two worksheets will help your child make the most of each ClearFluency passage, the goals being for your child to understand the process of reading with comprehension and then to practice those processes.

This chart will help your child see that comprehension is much more than just a literal understanding of the text. To become a good reader, you child needs to make and test guesses, think critically, connect to prior knowledge and make inferences. The end goal is reading with metacognition.
Use a separate printout for each passage. To get things started, you might want to interview your child and write down the responses – for a few sessions at least. The goal is for your child to complete this sheet independently while working on ClearFluency.
The chart has sections for responses before reading, during and the after. Each sections has prompts, helping your child run through the various connections and thoughts that might apply to every text they read.
Pro Tip: Your child should take the time to stop while reading the text (During) to run through the prompt questions and to think about the text as needed.

If your child is not meeting the fluency or comprehension goals, try this chart to help more clearly define the ClearFluency program flow.
To get things started you might want to interview your child, step by step and fill in the sheets for at least a few days. The goal however, would be for your child to complete this sheet independently.
