Headphones FAQ

Fast ForWord requires over the ear headphones. See three recommendations priced between $10 – $20. However, you may use any brand as long as:

  • They cover the ear.
  • Stereo, not “monaural” that might have sound in just one ear.
  • ARE NOT wireless / bluetooth headphones.
  • ARE NOT noise canceling / noise reduction headphones. You MAY use noise isolating.

There is a difference between noise canceling / reduction and noise isolating. Noise canceling/reduction headphones electronically cancel out the actual sound waves, so they interfere with the Fast ForWord exercises in a way that would be counterproductive. We DO NOT want your child to use noise canceling or noise reduction headphones.

Headphone Recommendations for Fast ForWord

(1) Noot Products foldable headphones – here.
(2) Rockpapa On Ear Stereo Headphones – here.
(3) Edifier H650 foldable headphones – here.  *
* NOTE: If you select the Edifier brand, please be mindful to select a wired version, not the bluetooth.

Headphone Splitters

We recommend that you listen in during your child’s first few sessions so you know what to expect in each exercise. Here is an example of a headphone splitter you can purchase- go here.

IF USING AN APPLE IPAD, CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW IF A LIGHTNING CONNECTOR WILL BE NECESSARY TO USE HEADPHONES: Jack Adapter here.

Headphones for ClearFluency

Here are a few more tips that can help you choose a headset.

  • The following headsets are also approved for Reading Assistant Plus, but they are not compatible with the other Fast ForWord components:
    • Logitech H390 (ClearChat Comfort USB)
    • Cyber Acoustics AC-204
    • Cyber Acoustics AC-201
  • In place of the Andrea C-100 adapter, you can search online for one: “3.5mm 4-pin to 2×3-pin headset splitter adapter”
